UH diver Sthamann 21st in NCAA meet

University of Hawaii junior Madison Sthamann finished 21st in platform diving in the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Sthamann posted 239.70 points the event, falling less than 10 points short of qualifying for the consolation final. Sthamann placed 40th in 3-meter diving on Friday.

UH junior Franziska Weidner finished 33rd in 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.71 seconds and Rainbow Wahine teammate Bryndis Hansen came in 48th at 49.44.

UH water polo rebounds against Indiana

Hawaii sophomore Irene Gonzalez scored three goals to lead the No. 8 Rainbow Wahine water polo team to an 11-5 win over No. 13 Indiana on Saturday at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

UH (10-9) scored four unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 7-1 lead into halftime. Erika Pauley capped the run with a goal with one second left in the period and UH maintained control throughout the second half to avenge an early-season…
